Monograph Published: Distributed Energy Resources under Net Metering: Optimal Decisions, Incentives, and Aggregation

Happy to share our new monograph, Distributed Energy Resources under Net Metering: Optimal Decisions, Incentives, and Aggregation, co-authored with Prof. Lang Tong and published in Foundations and Trends in Electric Energy Systems.

The monograph provides a unified treatment of distributed energy resources (DERs) under net metering, covering optimal operation of flexible loads and storage, electricity tariff design, energy communities, and DER aggregation. It also introduces the generalized net metering framework NEM X, which serves as a foundation for analyzing prosumer incentives and market participation.

This work brings together several years of research conducted at Cornell University and MIT on the economics, operation, and coordination of DERs in modern power systems.
